Lynne P. Noon, OD, FAAO
Diplomate in Low Vision Rehabilitation

Dr. Lynne P. Noon is the founder of the ViewFinder Low Vision Resource Centers which opened in 1992. She is Arizona's only Diplomate in Low Vision Rehabilitation. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Providence College in Rhode Island and a Doctor of Optometry degree at the New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts. Dr. Noon completed training at the New York Lighthouse Low Vision Services, The Cotting School for Handicapped Children in Boston, Massachusetts, and The Veterans Administration Medical Services in Providence, Rhode Island.

Dr. Noon frequently lectures to her peers regarding low vision rehabilitation and is often interviewed for articles and news stories regarding this subject. Dr. Noon is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Diplomate in Low Vision Rehabilitation of the American Academy of Optometry, a member of the American Optometric Association, a member of the American Optometric Association Low Vision Section and a member of the Association for Education and Rehabilitation of the Blind and Visually Impaired. She has been the chair of the Arizona Optometric Low Vision Section from 1993 to the 2007; a past board member of Arizona's Vision Rehabilitation & Technology Expo and sat for two terms on the Arizona Governor's Council for the Blind and Visually Impaired.

 


Kevin M. Huff O.D.

He was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. Dr. Huff earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona. He completed his optometric degree at the Southern California College of Optometry. Dr. Huff also completed training in Low Vision Rehabilitation at the Southern Arizona Veterans Administration Healthcare System in Tucson, Arizona and at the Foothills Center for the Partially Sighted in Glendora, CA. While attending optometry school Dr. Huff held several positions in student government including president of the student association and was actively involved in many different organizations. As president of the student association, Dr. Huff had the opportunity to represent the Southern California College of Optometry as a delegate to the congresses of both the American Optometric Association and the California Optometric Association. Dr. Huff's current professional memberships include the American Optometric Association, the Low Vision Section of the American Optometric Association, and the Arizona Optometric Association.


Janet Menke is the Director of Occupational Therapy Low Vision Rehabilitation Services for the Viewfinder Low Vision Resource Centers. Janet Menke is the Director of Occupational Therapy Low Vision Rehabilitation Services for the Viewfinder Low Vision Resource Centers. EYE ON Independence™ is the name of the rehabilitation division and its purpose is simple: to teach patients how to use their remaining vision and stay safely and functional in their home.

Janet has practiced Occupational Therapy since 1978. She graduated with her B.Sc. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Puget Sound, with a double minor in education and psychology. She completed graduate work towards her Education masters at Northern Arizona University. Her career in occupational therapy has spanned many areas including psychiatry, acute care, rehabilitation and home health.
Janet is frequently invited to speak to community groups, physician practices and professional organizations including the American Occupational Therapy Association, the Arizona Occupational Therapy Association and several Nursing Associations including the Arizona Ophthalmology Nurses Association. She lectures at A.T. Still University OT program and served as a clinical advisor for a research project on the topic of Low Vision. Other accomplishments worth noting include:

  • Congressional Appointment to the 2005 White House Conference on Aging.
  • Co-authored a training manual that later became the basis of a nationally published book.
  • Authored articles for professional publications; edited and published professional newsletter for over ten years.
  • Involved in numerous national and state professional organizations, holding elected and appointed positions.
  • Appointed Member (2001- 2004) and chair (2003-2004) of the Arizona Occupational Therapy Board of Examiners (ABOTE).
  • Named Arizona OTR of the Year in 1991 and 1993 for her contributions to the profession.

To make an appointment for a low vision evaluation with one of our doctors, please call either ViewFinder location. Appointments for low vision evaluations at the Arizona Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired are made through our Sun City office. Medicare and other insurances are accepted for low vision examinations.



ViewFinder Low Vision Resource Center

ViewFinder offers a comprehensive selection of magnification products and helpful daily living aids to assist people with visual impairment. There is never any charge for our low vision aid evaluation performed by trained low vision technicians and no appointment is necessary. ViewFinder also serves as a low vision resource center to provide information on other services and agencies available to assist those with visual impairment. We invite you to stop in at one of our locations and receive our free directory, Services and Products for People with Visual impairment. ViewFinder carries the following types of low vision aids:

Personal reading machines (Closed Circuit TV's for reading and writing)
A large selection of hand and stand magnifiers
Monocular telescopes (head borne and hand held)
Microscopic and prismatic half-eye spectacles
A large selection of task and reading lamps
Large print and talking watches, clocks and calculators

Low vision games and books
A large selection of cooking and kitchen aids
Large print calendars
